MISTERWIVES is a New York indie pop band that is steadily gaining attention for their dreamy and sometimes dramatic pop-rock sound, which is influenced by 80's pop and new wave sounds, and their dynamic and energetic live shows. The first release on their new label, RAMEN, is "SUPERBLOOM," an "album of joy" filled with the excitement and delight of seeing a wildflower in full bloom, blooming powerfully in the desert. Following the distribution, a 2-LP analog set will also be released! NY-based indie pop band MISTERWIVES, who released their debut album "Our Own House" in 2015, announced last year that they have signed with FUELED BY RAMEN. Their first full-length album "SUPERBLOOM" was released in July and is now available on CD and analog. MISTERWIVES has been steadily gaining attention for their dreamy and sometimes dramatic pop-rock sound, which is influenced by 80's pop and new wave sounds, and their dynamic and energetic live performances.The inspiration for this album, "SUPERBLOOM," came from frontwoman Mandy Lee's trip to Antelope Valley, California, last March to see the Super Bloom phenomenon (an event in which an unusually large number of wild flowers bloom in desert areas, etc., due to unusual rainfall). He said, "I was so moved by the beauty of the flowers, which should not grow in a desert area, but were blooming so vibrantly, as if they were an accurate representation of my own life. Like the flowers blooming there, I grew up in a part of the world I never thought I would. In a less than graceful way, I was pushed to the bottom with the force of a great storm, from which I recovered and grew slowly, feeling the pain. I felt myself overlapping with the small, strong poppy flower that bloomed after overcoming great difficulties - and I thought, this is something to celebrate." Reflecting Mandy's growth in unexpected areas, MISTERWIVES' new album, "SUPERBLOOM," the first album to come out of FUELED BY RAMEN and the band's third album overall, finds Mandy and her bandmates more boldly sound, adding new textures and colors to their irresistible indie-pop sound.With "SUPERBLOOM," which has elements of disco, hip-hop, and R&B, MISTERWIVES has taken on the challenge of a new kind of collaboration. We used to make music on our own, but now we're working with other people and we're able to mix styles in a fun way, while still maintaining the MISTERWIVES sound," drummer Etienne Bowler says of the album. The album features collaborations with labelmates Dylan Bauld and Sir Sly of flor, as well as Tim Pagnotta (COIN, Walk The Moon), Frans Mernick (Foster The People, A$AP Rocky ), and Alex Saliban (The Head and the Heart, Young The Giant), among others, have collaborated with the band on production. In songwriting, Mandy has also collaborated for the first time with Sir Sly's Landon Jacobs and Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter/rapper K.Flay. (1/2)
