The "Ultimate Polyphony" Tallis ScholarsThe complete works of Josquin de Pré's masses are finally complete! Starting with "Missa Pangea Lingua" released in 1986, which won the Gramophone Grand Prize, the Tallis Scholars have been slowly building up the complete works of Josquin des Prez (c.1450-1521) over the past 33 years. Volume 9, the final volume, is now available! The final volume includes the Mass "If I Changed My Love (Dan Autre Ame)" based on a motet by Okeghem, whom Josquin admired, the Mass "Ercole Duke of Ferrara (Ercules Dux Ferrarier)" assembled from a very short melody (8 and 4 notes) into an interesting work, and the Mass " Lamenting (Huzan Luglé), three great works that explore Josquin des Prez's outstanding compositional techniques in the meticulously and carefully woven polyphony that Tallis Scholars is known for. The result is a project that shines brilliantly in the annals of recording history, a project that could only have been accomplished by Peter Phillips and the Tallis Scholars.This is a supreme collection of the complete Josquin Masses for lovers of Renaissance music, as well as those involved in ancient music and choral music, and all classical fans.
