Recordings of French pianist and educator Yvonne Lefebvre (1898-1986), who began playing piano at age 4, was recognized as a talent by Cortot, entered the Paris Conservatory, studied with Cortot and others, made her debut at age 12, and in the 1950s performed with conductors including Furtwängler and Mengelberg, at the time He was one of the best pianists in Europe at the time. He also devoted himself to teaching, and his students included Dinu Lipatti, Sanson François, and Imogen Cooper. Lefebvre's recordings are not numerous, and this recording is one of the most valuable. His touch in Ravel and Debussy is beautiful, and his Schubert is superb. King International
