1955: The second installment of Bayreuth’s second *Ring* cycle! 2006: A sequel to the groundbreaking recording that shook the classical music world—Kailbert’s “Ring” cycle! The first-ever stereo recording of the “Ring,” released in 2006 fifty years after it was recorded, was met with astonishment by media outlets worldwide. “Siegfried” won the Gramophone Award (Historic Archive category), and in Japan, *Twilight of the Gods* won the Record Academy Award (Opera Category & Bronze Prize). Kailbert’s Bayreuth *Ring* recordings swept up prestigious awards in countries around the world. Not only can you enjoy the singing of legendary singers from their prime—such as Windgassen and Hotter, who were still in their 40s at the time, and Varnay, who was in her 30s—but another major attraction is the taut conducting of Kailbert, who took the world by storm as a Wagner conductor. Above all, the greatest surprise was the exceptional recording quality, which captures the performance so clearly and dynamically that it creates the illusion of a brand-new recording. A recording featuring the second cast has been preserved as a sequel to this Bayreuth recording. Following the release of *Götterdämmerung* in March, the second cast’s performance of *Die Walküre* is now available. Don’t miss Marta Mehdl as Brünnhilde and Valnay as Sieglinde! These two releases mark the conclusion of the second cast’s *Ring* cycle. The album also features excerpts from *Tannhäuser*, which was performed at Bayreuth the same year, and the resounding singing of Fischer-Tiskau and Windgassen is another highlight.
