Description:
The series for solo piano by one of the outstanding musicians of the 20th century, Romanian-born Georges Enesco (1881-1955), is completed with this third collection. Also performing in this collection is Hos de Solaun, winner of the 13th Georges Enesco International Piano Competition (held in Bucharest, 2014). The third collection of works mainly features pieces from his teenage years, and the style of the pieces is a blend of various styles, with scherzos in the Brahmsian style and improvisations in the Fauré style, in the style of both the Viennese and Parisian traditions. The "Suite" is the best of his early works, a delightful fusion of baroque and turn-of-the-century music. Recorded in the U.S. in 2016, this is an interesting album that reveals a young man who is gradually acquiring his own unique language. (C)RS
