The three-movement concerto "Pacifying Weapon," composed by American composer Sean Hickey in 2015, is a "prayer for peace," as the title "Pacifying Weapon" suggests, because Hickey was deeply moved by the repeated acts of terrorism and the never-ending war. The first movement begins with a prayer for peace. The first movement opens with an impressive recorder phrase, followed by the ringing of memorial bells in the second movement. The third movement is a rhythmic exchange between percussion and brass. The third movement is a rhythmic exchange between percussion and brass, with the recorder coloring it with a complex melody. Scottish folk songs can be heard from time to time. This work incorporates various elements. Petri's dazzling virtuosity in Claussen's "Recorder Concertino" is also worth listening to. Naxos Japan
