A masterpiece by the great Bach, played by Matteo Pasqualini, an Italian antiquarian keyboardist who was trained by such antiquarian music giants as Bob van Asperen, Pierre Anthey, and Case Bucquet. The album includes the "Italian Concerto," composed as the second volume of the Clavier Exercises and evoking the Italian genre of the Baroque concerto, with its typical alternation of "solo" and "tutti," and the "French Overture," suggesting the refined court dances that were performed throughout the Baroque era and grouped into suites.
