Pietro Solati, who made his debut at the age of 11 with the Orchestra dell'Opera Bellini and won the highest prize among Italians at the 11th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1985, is a pianist who has been remarkably active in Italy and abroad. The ninth volume in his ongoing series of recordings of Bach's complete piano works includes Fantasias, Capriccios, Overtures, and Suites. It offers interesting insights into Bach's early work as a composer and keyboard improviser. This recording, made under the auspices of the Bärenreiter Company, also uses the same Critical Edition scores as the previous recording, and the interpretation and research results are also a key point of interest. Another feature of this series is the use of Japanese landscapes for the jacket photo, this time the Senbon-torii gate at Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine in Kyoto, a popular tourist attraction and reflection spot.
