The northernmost of Ethiopian lo-fi dark funk along with Mulatu Astatuke and Hail Mergia's works! A compilation of ultra-rare recordings by Dawit Ihle, a pianist/composer who was active in the heart of Ethiopian music in the 1970s! This compilation is a selection of Dawit Ihle's music from rare cassette tapes released in the 1970s. The compilation has been remastered and compiled.The style is a fusion of Ethiopian chikchika music, twists, rumba congolese, and waltzes, reflecting the dynamic musical mixture of the time. One of the most ear-catching elements is the introduction of the violin, which was still a rarity at the time, and is a point that is now highly regarded for its visionary nature. Muzikawi, the emerging Ethiopian label responsible for this reissue, states that "these elements come together to create a bold, spiritual, hybrid Ethio-jazz." Muzikawi is a label based in Addis Ababa and Stockholm.The aim is to highlight musicians and works that are well-known in Ethiopia but have never been released outside the country, and to give them the international recognition they deserve.
