The Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra, led by Christian Lindberg, presents a series of recordings of Pétesson's complete symphonies. This album includes the Symphony No. 15 and the Viola Concerto from his later years! Christian Lindberg continues his series of recordings with the Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra of contemporary Swedish composer Alan Petteshon. This album features Symphony No. 15 and the Viola Concerto. Symphony No. 15 begins with an extraordinary tension from the very beginning. The horns and trombones at the beginning of the piece are characterized by their concise but high-impact chords. It was written in 1978, two years before his death, and is the culmination of his later years. The coupling piece is a viola concerto written in 1979. The solo part is performed by Swedish violist Ellen Nisbet, who complements the solo part in this recording. The recording also includes Pettechon's early work "Fantasy" for viola solo (June 1936, when the composer himself was beginning his career as a violist), which is also available on this disc.
