Description:
Noriko Ogawa's fifth recording of Satie's complete works for piano solo, featuring the early and esoteric works! The entire recording. Following the first (KKC-5644 / BIS SA-2215), second (KKC-5719 / BIS SA-2225), third "Vexation" (KKC-6217 / BIS SA-2325), and fourth "Lurasch-Cinema" (KKC-6374 / BIS SA-2335), which received rave reviews in various magazines Satie, who was active in France from the late 19th to the early 20th century, studied at the Paris Conservatory as a teenager, but did not fit in. He studied under Dandy at the Schola Cantorum in 1905 to relearn composition. As his fame as a composer grew, he attracted the attention and friendship of prominent artists such as Jean Cocteau and Picasso. He soon created a world of his own and pursued the satirical nature of his themes as well as the uninhibited and unrestrained expression of pure musical sensibility. This fifth collection includes his early and esoteric works.The recording was made over the course of August 2018 in a studio session at the Tokyo College of Music, where Satie currently holds a special appointment as professor. The instrument used is an 1890 Erard piano, the same instrument used by Satie when she composed many of her piano pieces.
