An album inspired by the French philosopher Michel Foucault and his work "The History of Madness"! New work by Camerata Nordica, a chamber orchestra based in Oskarshamn, Småland in southeastern Sweden. It is a tale of a moron's speech, a tale of ranting and raving, but without any meaning" (translated by Takeshi Odajima). The title of "The Tale of Echoes and Rage," taken from Act 5, Scene 5 of Shakespeare's "Macbeth," was inspired by the French philosopher Michel Foucault and his work, "The History of Madness," which inspired the production. The program includes mad songs from Restoration-era England, with Swedish soprano Carlin Dahlberg (Carlin Luhmann) singing solo, and works by Bieber and Telemann. Bieber sings three songs.A Hungarian folk trio is joined by a Swedish nyckelharpa in the "Fun Sonata," a "Battaglia" that is said to further emphasize the "folk" element, and a "Descriptive Sonata" with nightingale and cuckoo calls and a solo violin that mimics the transverse flute and drum of a military band. Telemann will perform "Don Quixote's Burlesca," which "perfectly captures the delusions of grandeur" of the Spanish knight. The "Descriptive Sonata" was arranged by Estonian composer Mikkel Kerem (1981-), and the other works by Terje Tonnesen (1955-), who leads the Camerata Nordica. To emphasize the "drama" of the album as a whole, three "improvisations" with "drum solos" at the beginning and in between the works are performed by Norwegian percussionist Hakon Stene, who also participates in the contemporary music ensemble "asamisimasa".
