In this recording, Lan Shui, who is known for his sensitive and refined expression, gives a clear and transparent performance. In 1997, the Singapore National Orchestra appointed Chinese conductor Lan Shui, who had also worked in the U.S., as its musical director, and the orchestra has grown to become a world-class orchestra. The orchestra is also active in recording, and its world premiere recording of the complete symphonies of Cherepnin and the symphonies of Rachmaninoff have received particularly high acclaim.
