The BCJ's fifth collection of secular cantatas includes two pieces that are often used in Christmas oratorios. The soloists are again well cast, including Joanne Lang with her clear and beautiful voice and Dominik Werner, a talented bass singer. On the other hand, "Drum, Drum, Trumpet" was a musical drama performed to celebrate the birthday of the Elector Princess of Saxony (and Queen of Poland) Maria Josepha, featuring the goddess of war, Bellona, and the goddess of arts and sciences, Firma.Almost all of the chorus and arias, which are also a major part of this work, have been converted to Christmas oratorio.
