Syriacs and Willemark collaborate on the SACD hybrid edition of "Dances. Dancing. One of mankind's most ancient means of expression. Hunters and later farmers danced to rejoice in a successful hunt, a bountiful harvest, and to appease gods and spirits. ......" The album of 20th century Swedish violin sonatas won a Swedish Grammy Award in 1999. The collaboration between Cecilia Siriaks and Lena Villemark, a Dalarna-born trad musician and soprano on the contemporary music scene, took "dancing" as its theme. J.S. Bach's Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin is "the second Partita No. 2 for unaccompanied violin is performed in a style based on the research of Dr. Helga Thöhne of Düsseldorf, who theorizes that "the partitas, especially the Chaconne, were written in memory of his first wife, Maria Barbara, who died in the summer of 1720.Between the movements of "Armand," "Clart," "Sarabande," "Gigue," and "Chaconne" played by Syriacs, Willemark sings the chorale by Johann Krüger (1598-1662), "Now give thanks to God, my fellow man," and the chorale by Jacob Runyar (1540-1599), "Where shall I flee? I will flee to where I am going" by Jacob Rognár (1540-1599). Swedish musician Svante Henriksson began his career as principal double bass of the Oslo Philharmonic. Known for his many facets as a classical bassist, cellist, heavy metal bassist, arranger, and composer, he and his wife, Katharina Henriksson, a Real Group vocalist, recently released a duo album, High, Low or in Between (BIS SA 2136) was also recently released. The solo violin sonata "for Cecilia Ciriacus" was composed in 2009. It consists of seven movements, including dance music and "Siciliano".Sven-David Sandström's "Dances" was commissioned by Syriacs and Willemark, who first collaborated on Bach's "Chaconne" in 2010.
