M. Ward, who is best known for his work as Monsters of Folk, a super band with Mogis (both with Bright Eyes) and Jim James (My Morning Jacket), releases his seventh solo album on , his first in three years! In addition to Zooey Deschanel, who also works with Sea & Him, guests include Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth, John Parrish of PJ Harvey, Howie Gelb of desert rock giants Giant Sand, and Mike Mogis, a close friend. The result is a masterpiece that offers a wide variety, from pop numbers reminiscent of Sea & Him to warm, melancholy ballads! In conjunction with the release of the album, the band will be touring the U.S. with Mike Watt's Firehorse and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), who recently announced a reunion.
