Serpentwithfeet, an experimental R&B artist originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and based in Los Angeles, has released his new album, *DEACON*, his first since 2018’s *Soil*, which was widely acclaimed by the media. Baltimore-born, Los Angeles-based artist serpentwithfeet will release his new album *DEACON* on March 26 via Secretly Canadian. This follows *soil*, his 2018 debut album, which was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of that year. With *DEACON*—an album that represents complete self-realization and a greater focus on personal achievement than ever before—serpent highlights his growth as a songwriter and adopts a more direct approach to expression. By spending time with pop songwriters and observing how they play with language, he has become more adventurous in his lyrics, resulting in a greater sense of authenticity. Through his music, serpent has allowed compassion to become the backbone of his art by connecting with the parts of himself he loves most. serpentwithfeet, whose real name is Josiah Wise, is an experimental R&B artist from Baltimore who is based in Los Angeles. He gained attention in 2016 with the release of his EP *Blisters* on TriAngle, which featured production by The Haxan Cloak. In 2018, he released his debut album *soil*, co-produced with Paul Epworth. It was critically acclaimed by numerous media outlets, including *The New York Times*, *The New Yorker*, *Billboard*, *Pitchfork*, *NPR Music*, and *The Ringer*. She has also collaborated with numerous artists, including Ty Dolla$ign, Ellie Goulding, Björk, and Virgil Abloh. She performed at the 2018 Fuji Rock Festival.
