The new third album by Tatiana Perha, one of the most talented female singers in contemporary Brazilian music, is a complete duo album of songs and piano, under the twin names of Vardan Ovsepian, a pianist and arranger from Armenia and living in LA. It is a sequel to Tatiana's previous album "Aqui" recorded with pianist Andres Baeusaert, and the sessions with Vardan, who has released chamber music ensemble works while keeping jazz as his main field, are dense and thrilling. This is a collection of aesthetic works refined to a more chamber music-like mood. Tatiana's voice, which is both lovely and strong at its core, her skillful handling of complex passages, and her expressiveness, as seen in M2 and M10, are unrivaled, and her outstanding qualities and charm are obvious even when compared to Gretchen Parlato, a female singer in the contemporary jazz scene. Vardan's piano playing also transcends the realm of mere song accompaniment and is rich in creativity, moving freely between the boundaries of classical, baroque, and jazz. This is a duo work that could only have been made possible by the combination of these two musicians.
