The Hanover Band's associate director, Andrew Arthur, plays the harpsichord! The Hanover Band has released numerous recordings on the Hyperion (Helios) and Nimbus labels and has earned an international reputation for performing music of the 18th and 19th centuries on period instruments. Their first new recording to be released in a long time is a collection of harpsichord concertos by J.S. Bach, the first release on the Signum label. Bach's harpsichord concertos occupy an important place in the history of music, and their influence on subsequent concertos for keyboard is immeasurable. We have selected four of these pieces and recorded them with Andru Arthur, Associate Director of the Hanover Band. Andrew Arthur is well known in the field of H.I.P. (historically informed performance) and has performed as a keyboard soloist, bass continuo player, and conductor with major period instrument orchestras and choirs in the UK. He is also principal organist and harpsichordist for the Carmen Bach Festival in California.Founded in 1980 by Caroline Brown, the Hanover Band is one of England's leading ancient instrument orchestras.
