Description:

Fly to the World from the Magnificent Northern Land! New Dvorak recording by Otaka & Sapporo Symphony Orchestra is finally available! Since the feature article on Tadaaki Otaka & Sapporo Symphony Orchestra appeared in the June 2007 issue of "Record Geijutsu" (Recorded Arts), expectations for the release of the new recording by Tadaaki Otaka & Sapporo Symphony Orchestra have been building, and Signum Classics is finally ready to release the new recording! The duo of Tadaaki Otaka and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra released a collection of works by Toru Takemitsu, Toshio Hosokawa, and Junchu Otaka (CHAN 9876 / MCHAN 9876) from Chandos in 2001, and this Dvořák is their second release on an overseas label. This recording and release was realized as one of the 45th anniversary projects of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, and the tremendous enthusiasm and concentration of the orchestra members and Maestro Otaka on the recording can be felt straight from the performance. With the current situation in which session recordings by orchestras around the world are greatly decreasing and live recordings are taking center stage, Otaka & the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra should be highly commended for their daring to engage in session recording. Dvorak was recorded on March 28 and 29, 2007 at the Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, the home of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra. This is the birth of another world-class performance that Japan can be proud of. Signum Classics will be releasing another recording of Elgar's Symphony No. 3 and No. 6 (November 2007)! (November 2007 information) Of course, this is the first recording by a Japanese orchestra, so expectations are high for this release. [Comment courtesy of Tokyo M-Plus Co.
