XTC 1984's seventh album, "The Big Express," is reissued on CD + Blu-ray with an updated 2023 stereo mix by Steven Wilson, as well as 5.1 surround sound, Dolby Atmos, and more. The Blu-ray also includes additional rare tracks, including demos and outtakes. Despite the departure of drummer Terry Chambers, the band has returned to its roots with an edgy, eccentric power-pop sound, a departure from their previous album, "Mummer," which was covered in acoustic textures and introspective moods. The song "Seagulls Screaming Kiss Her, Kiss Her" is unique with its sharp guitars panned from side to side, and the recording, equalization, and mixing of the song were all done with great care. The CD/Blu-ray also includes the latest mixes of the single couplings "Red Brick Dream," "Washaway," and "Blue Overall," which were also included as bonus tracks in the past.
