Veteran tenor saxophonist Houston Parson's new live album is now available! A new live album by Houston Parson, a veteran tenor saxophonist from South Carolina, born in 1934, who has been playing with Prestige since the 60's and 70's. His soulful, funky and masculine tenor was his main selling point. In the 1990s, he signed a contract with High Note, and since then he has been captivating jazz fans with his beautiful phrasing and gentle tone. His one-horn "My Romance," backed by Richard Wyans' piano trio, is the first of his works, and his ballad performances are also very tasteful, and his sense of stability is truly impressive. He has also performed with the Brazilian Sextet led by legendary bassist Ron Carter, and has recorded more than 100 albums. This album was recorded at the jazz a la villette festival in Paris in 2019 with a quartet featuring organ and guitar.The band opens with the hard bop swinging Johnny Griffin tune "Sweet Sucker," with Houston providing the melody, before the spotlight falls on Peter Bernstein's lyrical, golden-toned guitar. Benny Carter's beautiful ballad "Only Trust Your Heart," performed with a bossa nova groove, the blues-infused "Since I Fell for You," the R&B hit "Sunny," and his own composition "Jean-Jaures Shuffle" all express emotion and You can listen to them with ease.
