The eternal fighter, Arnoncourt's most remarkable disc, a stimulating and intense farewell to Zurich! Grand Partita & Destiny, 2-disc set with rehearsals from the 2011 Farewell Concert is now available on vinyl! Released on the 5th anniversary of Arnoncourt's death in 2021. Included is his last concert at the Zurich Opera, where he had been performing operas and concerts since the 1970s. The legendary performance of Mozart's "Grand Partita" and Beethoven's "Destiny," which Arnoncourt performed in a no-holds-barred, royal program, is now available in a beautifully packaged edition. The hardcover commentary includes many never-before-seen photographs. It was Opera Director Klaus Helmut Drese who invited Arnoncourt to Zurich in 1974, and this 2011 concert was a memorial concert for Drese, who passed away that same year, but as it turned out, it was also the first time that Arnoncourt and the Opera Orchestra of Zurich performed together in Zurich. The 2011 concert was a memorial concert for Dreze, who passed away the same year, but it also turned out to be the last concert between Arnoncourt and the opera house orchestra, creating a special atmosphere in the hall.The remaining performance was the very face of Arnoncourt, the eternal fighter, with tingling tension and unfading intensity, and always full of high spirits, the very sound of Arnoncourt. The following day, the Neue Zurcher Zeitung described it as a "furious farewell," and one critic even called it "the craziest performance of Beethoven's Fifth" at the Tonhalle since Brahms gave a farewell performance in 1895.
