Previously Unreleased Live Recordings By Famed Hard Bop Trumpeter Kenny Dorham Are Now Available On A 2-Lp Set. This Collection Was Transferred From The Original Tape Reels, Mastered By Fran Gala At Resonance Record Studios, And Pressed At Le Vinylist On 33-1/3 Rpm 180G Weight Vinyl In A Limited Edition Package. The Collection Was Recorded By Bernard Drayton In 1967 At A Local Bronx, Ny Bar Owned By Sylvia Robinson (Formerly Of The Hit-Making Duo Mickey & Sylvia) And Her Husband Joe At Boston Road And 168Th Street. It Features A Hard-Hitting Band Consisting Of Alto Saxophonist Sonny Redd, Pianist Cedar Walton, Bassist Paul Chambers, And Drummer Dennis Charles. The Album Opens With Dorham'S Most Famous Song, "Blue Bossa," First Heard On Tenor Saxophonist And Longtime Bandmate Joe Henderson'S 1963 Leader Debut, Page One.The Repertoire Includes An Untitled Blues Composed By Dorham, Numbers By Charlie Parker, Milt Jackson, And Miles Davis, And The Standards "Memories Of You" And "My One And Only Love. Commenting On His Latest Archival Discovery, Award-Winning Producer And Co-President Of Resonance, Zev Feldman, Said, "This Recording Is A Great Example Of How Modern Jazz Can Be Used To Create A New Style Of Music.
