Nils Lundgren was born in Sweden and has been creatively active on the world jazz scene. This release commemorates his 70th birthday with a live performance with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra! Arranged by Vince Mendoza with guest Ida Sand! Nils Lundgren is a leading figure in European jazz and the face of ACT! Nils Lundgren is a European jazz legend and the face of ACT, playing trombone, composing, singing with his one-of-a-kind sweet voice, festival director, mentor, and producer. And his career now spans almost 50 years. This release celebrates Nils' 70th birthday. It is a live recording with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra with brilliant arrangements by Vince Mendoza (Mendoza), one of the best composers, arrangers, and conductors of our time, and features popular Japanese bassist Lars Danielsson and special guest Ida Sand, one of Scandinavia's leading divas. The album was recorded live with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and features a brilliant arrangement by Mendoza. Opening with a standard number by Kurt Weill, Nils reconstructed a wide range of music from his own originals to numbers by Cat Stevens, Brenda Russell, Joe Sample, and Herbie Hancock, as is typical of Nils, who has created music that transcends genres. The concert will end dramatically with Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story classic "Somewhere," which will be followed by the performance of "The Most Important Thing in Music for Me. The most important thing in music for me is to break the mold. I think it's always important to explore and try new things.
