Here comes the latest album from ACT's signature diva, Victoria Tolstoy! Known for her descent from the great Russian writer Lev Tolstoy, Victoria Tolstoy is not only a topic of conversation, but is also highly popular in Japan for her overwhelming ability and worldwide success. Her last album, "Stealing Moments" (2024), was released 20 years after her debut with ACT, and was the culmination of her career, featuring songs from the ACT family and her cover/reinterpretation of her allies' works. On the other hand, this album is a duo with Swedish pianist and arranger Jacob Karlsson, who has been a part of ACT since its debut, and the two have known each other for 30 years. Says Tolstoy. "During that time, the world has continued to change, and dramatic changes have become more frequent and more rapid.But "with this duo, there was no argument (between the two), no "smart" concept, just the joy of creating music and a welcoming of what emerged in the flow." And. This is a form of music that has continued to grow and develop based on mutual trust in each other's presence and expression, even in the midst of a changing world. Ten years have passed since the release of the duo's work "A Moment of Now" (2013). While "A Moment of Now" featured a number of pop classics, most of the music on this album is Jacob Carlson's original. The title "Who we are" is also evident in the fact that some of the songs by Billy Joel and Tori Amos are not included on the LP. The two continue to deepen their sound with acoustic piano, keyboards, and programming on this brand-new duo album.
