Description:
The newest release from smooth/fusion guru and bassist Brian Bromberg! A cool and mysterious piece of contemporary jazz that brings vibe and soulfulness to the forefront with his superb artistry and technical prowess, and is deeply imbued with the shadowy mystery and twilight romance of a full-moon night! Jazz bassist Brian Bromberg, born in 1960 in Arizona, USA, is now a leading figure in the jazz fusion world. He has played with Stan Getz at the age of 19, and has supported legendary musicians such as George Benson, Lee Ritner, Michael Bublé, and many others. He is one of the few artists with a classical jazz foundation who has also found success in the fusion world. He began work on his current album, "The Magic of Moonlight," when he had no energy at all due to a physical breakdown caused by a pandemic. He had such a hard time making it that he fell asleep while recording with his bass on his lap due to prescription drugs and blurted out, "It really sucked. However, while composing under the night sky at home, guided by the music he loved, the atmosphere and soulfulness that emanated from the man himself came to the fore and became more and more vibrant, aptly titled "The Magic of Moonlight" (月光の魔法). In addition to a core band of Joel Taylor and Tony Moore on drums, Tom Zink on keyboards, Gannin Arnold on guitar, and Lenny Castro on percussion, each song features an all-star cast of guests. Everett Harp plays tenor on the title track and the windswept "Last Day of Summer" and soprano on the tender "The Third Child," dedicated to Bromberg's sister. Fusion sax master Gary Meek adds supple soprano to "Just Another Beautiful Day."Charlie Bisharat's violin and Grant Gaceman's sitar guitar added an otherworldly flavor to the fusion-oriented exoticism, while Lynn Rountree's muted trumpet punctuated the funk song "So, You Think You' All That?" with a The muted trumpet of Lynn Rountree punctuates the funk song "So, You Think You' All That? Nephew Zach Blomberg lends his modern, R&B-tinged groove to "A New Dawn" and "Bedtime Story. In contrast to the freewheeling, open-road atmosphere of its predecessor, A Little Driving Music, this album is composed entirely of original compositions and is built around a very specific theme: "a romance of mystery and twilight, wrapped in the shadows of a night spent under a star-filled sky. Mysterious atmosphere, spirituality, and a pleasantly positive energy are all incorporated into this project work, which is based on a melodic and contemporary jazz/groove style.
