Bach (1685-1750)
Description:
Ryo Terakabe Re-records Bach Sonatas! Baroque violin virtuoso Ryo Terakabe makes his first appearance on the Challenge Classics label with his first re-recording since 1996 of Bach's Sonatas for Violin and Violoncello. This is the first release on the Challenge Classics label. This is the first collection of Bach's first three sonatas. With harpsichordist Bonizzoni, whom she met as a colleague at The Hague Royal Conservatory of Music and with whom she performed together for the first time in 2019. We share a common musical language and approach music in the same way," Terakobe said, and this sonata, with its key counterpoint between the instruments, is a perfect fit for the two of them. Bach's six violin sonatas, like his works for unaccompanied violin and unaccompanied cello, are a groundbreaking collection of pieces carefully crafted and assembled by Bach. Terakobe has performed these works as an important part of his repertoire (the Cello Suites have been recorded on Spalla), and his skilled interpretation, deepened over time by confronting Bach, is brought to fruition here. The result is a performance that is humble, respectful of the music, and noble, without any eccentricities. The powerful, clear, and warm tone of the music conveys the sentiment of Terakobe, who says, "Bach is the joy of our life.Fabio Bonizzoni is an Italian organ and harpsichordist who studied with Copeman. In addition to performing with renowned ancient music orchestras, he has formed his own ensemble, "La Risonanza". He has released Bach's harpsichord concertos (Vol. 1: CC-72773/Vol. 2: CC-72800) on the same label. The booklet commentary is by Terakobe himself. King International
