Alexandra Ariece, conductor, is a Brazilian native (born in 1981!) ), is the next generation of maestras. Marin Allsopp, one of Leonard Bernstein's last students and a brilliant and successful Maestra, studied with the Baltimore Symphony and the São Paulo Symphony, where she was the first female conductor to lead a major American orchestra as music director. Her extensive experience in both classical and pop music is reflected in a series of conducting engagements at the Night of the Proms, to which she has been invited since 2015, in the 2019 recording of "Saudade," focusing on the music of Carlos Jobim, and with many distinguished popular music artists. He has led the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra in Belgium, of which he has been Principal Conductor since 2017, in a successful project that transforms 33 songs by the Beach Boys into a beautiful symphony of seven chapters, arranged by Roland Jacobs, with a melodic beauty and lyrical charm that is unmatched by any other recording. Recorded August 2021.
