Pylon, a post-punk band from Athens, Georgia that has influenced R.E.M., Gang of Four, Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Interpol, Deerhunter, and many other bands. Its frontwoman Vanessa Briscoe Hay's new band, Pylon Reenactment Society, has released its debut album. 'They say people change their cellular structure every seven years, so since I started Pylon 40 years ago, I've been completely reborn many times. I'm getting older and I can't be something I'm not anymore, Pylon is the star that guides us, but we're not Pylon, we're Pylon Reenactment Society," said Vanessa Hartman, frontwoman of the iconic Ascend's band Pylon, and current member of Pylon It is easier to explain what Pylon Reenactment Society is not than what it is. It is neither a continuation nor a reunion.Because Vanessa is the only member who has been a part of either group, the band is neither a tribute act nor a cover band, although it does play Pylon songs. Instead, this new band draws inspiration from the old band and taps into its driving principles. Two recorded songs were brought in to conclude the implicit theme of the collective. All of the music was recorded by the four current members of the band and includes a gorgeous vocal duet with Kate Pierson of The B-52's.
