The Cars became one of the most famous American bands of the 80's, both in name and reality, with a string of hits thanks to their innovative musicality and music video strategy. Their 1984 hit album "HEARTBEAT CITY", which was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is now available in a deluxe 5CD+LP deluxe edition commemorating the 40th anniversary of its release! In addition to the original album, the deluxe edition includes rare and previously unreleased recordings and live recordings from 1984! The band started their career in 1976 and released their debut single "Just What I Needed" in 1978, which made the Top 40, followed by a string of hits over the next 10 years including "Let's Go" and "Shake It Up", as well as "Magic" and "You Might Think". (which won "Video Of The Year" at the first MTV Awards in 1984!) The Cars were one of the most popular American bands of the 1980s, selling more than 23 million albums in the U.S. alone. Their great achievement and success in the music scene is proven by their induction into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" in 2018. The band's fifth studio album and biggest hit, "Heartbeat City", released in 1984, is now available in a deluxe edition to celebrate its 40th anniversary! This deluxe edition includes all the material from the hit album, which reached #3 on the US charts and was certified as a 4x Platinum Disc, on CD and LP, as well as previously unreleased studio material and early mixes that take you on a journey to the completion of the album, and a special CD of the band's first album, "Heartbeat City," which was released in September 1984. The album also includes a live album of the September Houston show from the Heartbeat City Tour in 1984. Also included is a booklet with numerous photos, a song commentary by keyboardist Greg Hawks, and an essay by drummer David Robinson, who designed all of the Cars' album covers, including the artwork for this album.
