Rare sonic alchemy seems to be at work on the third album by Time Is A Blind Guide, an ensemble led by Norwegian drummer Tomas Stronen. Leo Svensson Sander replaces Lucy Railton on cello, and his new tone blends seamlessly into the quietly breathing sounds of the ensemble.Ayumi Tanaka's understated but extremely precise playing drives the keyboard with empathy, resonating with Streinen's percussive layers, Ole Morten Vagan's distorted double bass, and Hakon Aase's lyrical violin. At times the three strings form a solid trio, engaging in contemplative dialogue with the piano and percussion, but for the most part each instrument slips dynamically into and out of the soundscape.Its pulse works as a whole and is captured in the acclaimed acoustic space of Rainbow Studios. recorded at Rainbow Studios in Oslo in 2021 and mixed in Munich in 2024, the album was produced by Manfred Eicher. ＜Thomas Stronen: drums
