Aaron Parks releases third Blue Note album! Aaron Parks' third Blue Note release features a trio formation with Ben Street (b) and Billy Hart (ds), as well as a new quartet with Ben Solomon (ts) up front, evolving the sound to explore a palette of colors never before seen. It was co-produced with Ben Street and was rapidly realized after a show at the Village Vanguard. Aaron, Ben Street, and Billy Hart had worked together on "Find the Way," released on ECM in 2017, and this project is the fulfillment of Aaron's desire to play with that trio again. The songs are all new, newly written by Aaron, who is highly regarded for his unparalleled beauty, and once again include a deeply melancholy track about his wife and son. About this album, Aaron says, "I don't see this album as being all that different from past albums.It's a record that loves the jazz tradition, the Black American music tradition, and it's meant to be about living within that lineage and continuity, not nostalgia or protection. That's what the title of the album is about, too, and it's a big affirmation, a statement of 'let's get to the party. And above all, it's about the joy of playing together, of improvising with each other in the songs, and it's about just loving music.
