Phosphorescent

Description:

Phosphorescent, the project of American singer/songwriter Mathew Houck, releases a new album on Verve/Decca UK!Since 2001, Mathew has been active in the indie rock scene, releasing eight studio albums to date. He has collaborated with indie greats like Father John Misty and his 2018 album was mixed and discussed by Vance Powell (Jack White, Phish, Chris Stapleton). A highlight of his career was the 2013 album Muchacho (Dead Oceans / Secretly Group), whose song "Songs For Zula" was well received in the US media. His last album, 2018's C'Est Le Vie (Dead Oceans / Secretly Group), received rave reviews from Pitchfork, New York Magazine, Stereogum, and others, and was also featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and CBS This Morning. Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Phosphorescent continues to be a heavyweight in the indie world, and their return after a five-year absence has been eagerly anticipated by fans and critics alike. In the meantime, his latest covers album, "Full Moon Project," released in 2022, encompasses major artists he has influenced, including the Bee Gees, Bob Dylan, and Nina Simone. It is intended to find rebirth, reinvention, and revelation won through hardship in the days of his life, and he has commented on the title track "Revelator," which has been released as an advance track, that it "may be the best song I've ever written. The album was produced by Houck himself and recorded over a six-month period in his Nashville studio.Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs , Jim White partner of the Dirty Three - singer-songwriter and pianist Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs, Jim White of the Dirty Three, and Houck's partner - singer-songwriter and pianist Jo Schornikow.
