This is the second ECM album by the golden trio of Wolfgang Moospiel, bassist Scott Corey, and drummer Brian Braid, who performed to great acclaim at a sold-out show in Japan in April of this year! It has been three years since their last album, "Angular Blues," which was acclaimed by the U.S. Times Magazine as "a quiet and impressive album that highlights Moospeel's fluid and melodic playing style. Wolfgang's unique compositional style is as heavily influenced by folk as ever, but this time he draws even more inspiration from classical music, and on the other hand, his lively interaction with his trio mates has become even more lively, with Brian's floating percussive playing and Scott's nimble bass complement the guitarist's acoustic and electric playing in a fluid interplay over a landscape of complex polyrhythms and adventurous harmonies.Wolfgang Moospiel wrote in Jazztimes 2021, "Aside from technique and instrumentation, Moospiel's deep love and mastery of jazz shines through in both originals and standards, as does his chemistry with Braid and Corey," while Wolfgang Moospiel added, "We have an immense mutual We have a great deal of trust in each other," commented Wolfgang Moonspiel. In February 2022, after an extensive tour of Europe and the United States, "Dance of the Elders" was recorded. There is always something to learn from Brian and Scott.
