Surrounded by a fresh quartet of pianist Florian Weber, bassist Bens Auster, and drummer Gerry Hemingway, Alessi's distinctive tone is as supple and sharp as ever on this album, and the trumpeter's idiosyncratic swinging tunes are navigated with a sixth sense. He navigates the music with a sixth sense. This album is not only a sequel to the leader's work, but also the evolution of Florian Weber's fourth album with ECM, and his unique harmonic approach to the keyboard reveals Alessi's deep sensitivity to the pulse, both as a leader and as a sideman.
