ECM presents the first trio work from the UK-ordered pianist who will lead the next generation of ECM. Kit Downes joins longtime collaborators Petter Eld (b) and James Maddren (ds) for a piano trio program that alternates between gentle lyricism and bold bursts of creativity. 2019 work released on ECM, " Dreamlife of Debris was described by BBC Music Magazine as "a work of otherworldly beauty," Downes has produced his most comprehensive work to date with this album, Vermillion. The trio's unique interpretation of the piano trio format creates unexpected harmonic shifts and lively rhythmic sparks, all the while creating a unique musical form. In this work, the trio draws upon the unique design of this piano trio formation in a clear interplay, and in the process, presents the world with a profound study of Kit Downs' wide-ranging musical imaginary world.The pianist/organist/composer, who won the Rising Star Award at the BBC Jazz Awards in 2008 and was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2010, makes his ECM solo debut in 2015 as pianist on Thomas Streinen's project "Time is a Blind Guide" and in 2018 on "Obsidi" an almost solo recording on church organ. In 2019, he will release his second ECM album, "Dreamlife of Debris", which will feature both organ and piano. explores deeper music with a quintet configuration of saxophone, guitar, cello, and drums, playing both organ and piano. This album explores jazz with Swedish bassist Petter Eldo and British drummer James Madren, who have been working with the trio ENEMY since 2018.Except for the Jimi Hendrix piece on M-11, the album consists of original compositions by Downs and Eldo.
