The literal translation of the original album title is "The Lost Art of Jacob Ratiner Vol. 2. Jacob Ratiner (1928-2010) was born in Havana, Cuba to Polish parents, and was a child prodigy, making his debut at the age of 10 playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Havana Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ernesto Requona. Two years later, the family moved to Havana. Two years later, the family immigrated to the U.S. Jacob and his younger brother Izidore (1930-2005) studied violin at the Curtis Institute of Music with Isabella Vengerova, and at the age of 16, Jacob made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy, playing In the 1960s she participated in the chamber music concert series of Yascha Heifetz, William Primrose, and Gregor Piatigorsky.He remained active as a concert pianist until the 1990s and taught at the Juilliard School from 1966 until his death, but was a forgotten pianist at the time of his death in 2010, probably because he made no commercial recordings after 1967.
