Stokowski's unknown Polish recordings in the archives of the Polish Broadcasting Corporation, including the first recordings ever released. Polskie Radio, the independent label of Polish Radio (Polskie Radio/Polish Radio), Poland's public broadcaster, has produced the "FROM THE POLISH RADIO ARCHIVES" series, which releases on CD rare recordings from the Polish Radio archives, From the Polskie Radio's "FROM THE POLISH RADIO ARCHIVES" series, rare recordings of the greatest conductor of the 20th century, Leopold Stokowski, are now available! The recordings were made in 1959, when Stokowski, whose father was a Polish immigrant, visited Poland for the first time at the age of 77 to conduct the orchestra of his "homeland", and the following year when he returned to Poland. This is the first appearance of Monieuszko's colorful concert overture "Fairy Tale," which contains elements of sonata and symphonic poem, and Szymanowski's "Stabat Mater. The final track features Stokowski's own voice, and the booklet includes many photos of Stokowski taken during his visit to Poland, making this a disc that Stokowski fans will covet.
