A collection of piano works by Monieuszko, the "Father of Polish Opera"! Tobias Koch plays the instrument given by Monieuszko to his beloved daughter and inherited by his granddaughter! The "Father of Polish Opera", who has left his mark in the history of music as the most outstanding composer of opera in Poland in the 19th century and the composer of about 300 songs. Stanislaw Monieuszko (1819-1872). Following the release of his operas and songs comes "Belle Époque," a collection of piano works perfectly suited to the salon atmosphere of the 19th century. Although best known for his compositions for voice, MONYUSHKO also left approximately 180 piano works, most notably his Polonaises, which attracted the interest of music lovers and score publishers. In this work, too, polonaises account for 11 of the 23 pieces. Six of them are polonaises by Polish composer and diplomat Michał Kreofas Ogiński (1765-1833), arranged harmonically by Monieuszko, and the collection is dedicated to Franz Liszt.Tobias Koch, a master of period instruments, who has also played a rich and tasteful voice in "National Anthems and Chants of Europe" (NIFCCD068) and "Polish Romantic Piano Works" (NIFCCD104), uses a piano in this album, which was highly praised by Monieuszko and called "Poland's Prael" at the World Exposition in Paris. Krall & Seidler, a piano workshop in Warsaw, which was highly praised by Moneuszko and called the "Polish Pleyel" at the Paris Universal Exposition, produced this piano around 1846. It is a rare original instrument with serial number "3043", which was given by Moneuszko to his daughter and passed down to his granddaughter (and probably played by Moneuszko himself). Tokyo M-Plus
