The history of the International Chopin Piano Competition traced by the "Mazurka Prize (Polish Radio Prize)"! The first Chopin International Piano Competition was held in 1927 and has produced many great pianists. 15 pianists who have won the "Mazurka Prize (Polish Radio Prize)" in its long history have performed mazurkas (CD1 track 13 [Czerny-Stefanska] and up are archive recordings made outside the competition, while track 14 [Fu Tsong] and after are all live recordings made at the Chopin Competition). The only thing you need to know about the Chopin Competition is that it's a 2-CD set.The program covers more than half a century of performances, from Alexander Uninsky in 1932 to Kate Liu in 2015, so you can trace the changes in mazurka performance, or look back at the performances of great masters such as Argerich, Zimmermann, and Brehatz at the time of their awards.
