The great Polish symphonist of the pre-World War II era. A disciple of Rimsky-Korsakov, Maliszewski! A good project unique to the Polish label that spotlights large-scale orchestral works! Maliszewski, also known by his Russian name of Vitryd Osipovich Maliszewski, studied under Rimsky-Korsakov at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and went on to great success as a composer and musician. His influence on the Russian musical world is immeasurable, as he trained future masters such as Oistrakh, Gilleris, and Zak. After the Russian Revolution, he went to Poland to escape persecution and became president of the Warsaw Musical Society.As a professor at the Warsaw Conservatory of Music, he devoted himself to the development of music in Poland, teaching the next generation of Polish talents such as Lutoslawski. Maliszewski passed away just before his country was annihilated by the Soviet invasion of Nazi Germany in 1939. Many of his works are strongly influenced by his teacher Rimsky-Korsakov and 19th century Russian music, and the effective use of the wind section and its activities are reminiscent of his teacher's style.The orchestra of Opole, a city in southwestern Poland, led by the talented conductor and music director Pszemyslaw Neumann, who was born in Poznan in 1979, will lead us to re-evaluate Maliszewski's achievements as a composer with a full performance by the Juszef Elsener Opole Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will bring Maliszewski's achievements as a composer to a new level of appreciation!
