Description:
The 1st Stanislaw Moneuszko International Polish Music Competition was held in the southeastern Polish city of Żeszów from September 20-27, 2019. Organized in cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the competition's main goal is to bring Polish music from the 19th and 20th centuries, especially unknown works, to the public and lead to their revaluation. The sixth volume of live recordings of the competition, released by the Polish DUX label, features performances by the honorable winners (first through third prizes) of the piano and chamber music categories of the competition. In addition to Chopin, Tansman, Szymanowski, Gretzky, Maliszewski, Kaczkowski, Pacholkiewicz, and others whose names we do not often hear, we can get to know the works of Polish composers whose names we do not often hear through the performances of the country's most talented musicians.
