The third volume of the "First Moniezhko International Competition of Polish Music" is dedicated to the piano and chamber music of Maurits (Maurits) Moszkowski (1854-1925). Moszkowski was an international pianist who was active not only in his native Poland but also in Berlin, Germany, and Paris, France. He was also a highly accomplished educator who taught such great names in music history as Perlmutter, Landowska, Beecham, and Hofmann. He was also a composer and pianist, and it is no exaggeration to say that his true appeal as a composer lies not only in his large-scale works such as piano concertos and violin concertos, but also in his more than 200 smaller works for piano. On the other hand, his personal life has been marked by episodes of mental damage from two divorces (his first wife was Cecile Chaminade's sister), financial difficulties in his later years, and other episodes of ill fortune.
