The Ensemble has released Dufay's works before, and their beauty remains a strong favorite, so the new recording is a most welcome addition. Guillaume Dufay (1397-1474) was a leading composer of the Renaissance and Burgundian School. He is well known for his religious music, but his secular music, such as chansons, is rarely neglected, but he created an astonishingly beautiful world. Although a great master of church music, it is in secular music that Dufaye's talents were most fully expressed. The singing of Ensemble Gilles Banschois is ever more polished and is truly divine. The haunting sentiments of the songs are well suited for late autumn evenings. King International
