Description:
RED HOOK LIMITED, hosted by former ECM producer Sun Chung, presents its long-awaited second release! ECM free jazz luminaries Wadada Leo Smith and Andrew Cyril are joined by Pakistani electronic musician Qasim Naqvi to create a new world of mystical ambient free jazz. The long-awaited second release from RED HOOK, hosted by former ECM producer Sun Chung, follows Masaaki Kikuchi's last recording! Wadada Leo Smith and Andrew Cyril, both free jazz giants, are joined by Pakistani electronic musician Qasim Naqvi to create a new world of mystical ambient free jazz. Wadada Leo Smith is an American trumpeter and composer. He works mainly in the fields of avant-garde jazz and free improvisation. His 1978 ECM recording "Divine Love" was named "one of the best recordings of all time" by contemporary jazz philosopher Vijay Iyer, and his 2012 album "Ten Freedom Summers" was one of three finalists for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Music. Andrew Cyrille is a living legend of free jazz who has been highly acclaimed by professionals. Andrew Cyril is an American avant-garde jazz drummer. He is a leader of the current downtown New York loft scene, having worked as a drummer for Cecil Taylor for 10 years in the free jazz field and as a backing member of Carla Bley. While free jazz is often associated with a wild image, his graceful drumming is worthy of special mention. Qasim Naqvi is an up-and-coming Pakistani electronic musician who also works as a jazz drummer. He has released works on the American underground labels NNA Tapes, Erased Tapes, and Private Series, of which Oneohtrix Point Never used to be a part. He is known for his delicate use of electronic sounds. In this album, he composed all the songs. The "pause" of the divine trumpet, which seems to descend from the heavens, is intertwined with spontaneous dissipative and restrained drums and chirpy electronic sounds by synthesizers, and in the fantastic touch, one can also feel the air of purely enjoying the creation of "sound". The free fun and creativity of free jazz and the relaxed ambient atmosphere. The two are fused together without discomfort, with a hint of experimental spirit, to create a masterpiece for a new age.
