Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater," written shortly before his death, is a masterpiece with a small orchestra that speaks to the audience with dramatic tension and earnestness. Jaroussky and Razhneva, a singer comparable to Bartoli. Diego Fazolis & I Barocchisti, with whom Jaroussky collaborated on Bartoli's "Mission" album, and the Swiss Italian Radio Choir, who provide a wonderful choral performance, join forces to tackle this masterpiece with a finely tuned ensemble in this much talked about album.
