This album features the pastoral opera, "Les Arts in Bloom (Les Arts Florissants)" by one of the most famous composers of the French Baroque period, Marcandre Charpentier, who wrote many religious works, secular songs, and operas with refined beauty. James Richman, artistic director of the Dallas Bach Society since 1995, is the first musician since Bernstein to graduate from Harvard University, the Juilliard School, and the Curtis Institute of Music, where he also played harpsichord and fortepiano. For his contributions to the field of music, he was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in 1995.
