Debut album by Mahani Teave, an exceptionally talented pianist from Easter Island (Rapa Nui)! She is the only professional pianist on Easter Island with such a wonderful musicality and was destined to have a brilliant career on the international concert stage, winning the Claudio Arau International Piano Competition in 1999 and being selected as a Steinway & Sons artist. However, he turned his back on that life and returned to Rapa Nui to establish a music school for the island's children, a remarkable story. David Fulton, a world-renowned collector of Stradivarius and other Cremona-made instruments, happened to hear Teave play during a cruise to Easter Island, and was greatly impressed by his performance, which led to the release of the debut recording. This led to the release of his debut recording.(The manager and recording producer of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, who subsequently heard her perform, were also amazed at the excellence of her performance.) The two CDs of this rich recital program include pianistic works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, Scriabin's works for the left hand, and works by Bach and Handel.
