This is the debut album of young Danish-born cellist Jonathan Swensen, a collection of unaccompanied cello works. Jonathan Swensen was captivated by the cello at the age of 6 when he heard his father conduct Elgar's Cello Concerto.After winning the Young Concert Artist International Auditions in 2018, he went on to win the Khachaturian International Cello Competition and the 2019 Windsor International String In 2022, he was also awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and is on the verge of an illustrious career. On this debut album, an ambitious work featuring rarely performed works and works by contemporary composers, Jonathan Swensen says, "My goal with this album was to create the illusion that the music was being played for the first time. (The music is happening at the moment the audience hears it, no matter how many years ago it was written.Contemporary Danish composer Bent Seansen (b.1958)'s Farewell-Fantasia is a newly commissioned work composed for Jonathan Swensen.
